CVB Holme Moss 23/2/13

Two minutes and fifty second of beagling on some very exposed & flipping cold ground.

Last Saturday, 23rd February 2013.

Location: Holme Moss, The border between West Yorkshire & Derbyshire.

Time: 9.00AM

Temperature: -11°C

Bloody cold.

 This is clearly not beagling.

This, in spite of the absence of beagles in the photo, is.

This is Charlie.

The low cloud, and perishing cold, with a strong draught, kept us from turning out on time, and for an hour and a half it was touch and go as to whether or not we would get out at all.

In the revamped Blog this is the first time I've mentioned what is one of my favourite pastimes, namely tramping around the hills and moors watching and (formerly) hunting a pack of beagles, the Colne Valley Beagles in fact. In the Picasa album to the right hand side of this page there will be a good few pictures from the old Blog relating to the subject.....

It will get mentioned again.

(I realised after posting the video that I'd already done a post on this particular day, so have edited them together...)

CVB @ Heights 16/2/13

Quite why this has taken so long to post I don't know, but here are a few from Heights....

Little to do with the sport of beagling, apart from the fact that there are always times when you get to have a good look at your surroundings......

Last but not least, the love birds....

Archive: Holme Valley Beagles

This one could run & run.

I haven't found any ones earlier of me in uniform...must be ca. 83/4
(ie 16/17!!)

Similar time, on the banks above Digley Res. Dad took this one, and I remember thinking how sodding cold it was....

Little HV April could squeeze through the tightest bars.....here's proof....

Comely, Echo, April & Snowdrop

Me & the late "AB" at a lawn meet at "Hunters House" Nr Woodnook, ca '88 (ish)

Rog at the same meet.

Clarkie sometime in the early noughties on the Hathersage side of Standedge, Nr Sheffield.

Rog & Andy Noble at Chatsworth.
It would be nice to resurrect that as a regular parade, it was a brilliant show to go to.

A random one-off at "Ings" near Staveley, South Cumbria. There might be some more of these in time, but this one just came to the surface of the box of old snaps.

Paul & I parading the HVB at Wortley, ca 89 I think.

Bill McNab (I think??) Rog & AB at Harrogate, ca 88

Dr Grom & the HVB entry that year, whichever it was....

Me & Grom feeding hounds.
I suspect these might have been on the same day as the ones below, but can't be certain..

Frank Stacey telling me where to draw. Charlie in the background....

Charlie telling me to ignore Frank and go where the heck I wanted.....

Frank stomping off....

In days gone by it was the way of things to walk to the majority of meets, in the valley at least. The Boxing Day I hunted the HVB (Definitely 1988) I decided to walk from Upperthong to The Fleece, at Holme, in the same manner..BEFORE hunting a full (split) day. How stupid was that??

Arnold, Grom & Our Kid joined me in this silly venture....somebody else must have as I can't remember who took the pictures....

Archive: Quorn Miscellany

I have no idea why I either didn't take, or have a better camera, or whatever, during my time visiting the village of  Wilson, and subsequently Melbourne, but these are currently the only pictures I can find of then...

Must have been around 1999, possibly 98? Whenever Adrian Dangar was huntsman?

 Linda on "Melda" (I think)

 Oh my goodness..... No comment.
